Medical Research Centre (MRC)

Medical Research Centre (MRC) is a non governmental organization based in Sierra Leone. MRC aims to contribute to the improvement of the health status of people in Sierra Leone by providing primary health care support, backed up by (operational) research services for the underserved communities in rural areas.

MRC will achieve these goals by increasing the capacity, involvement and participation of the local population and ensuring health care delivery through sustainable programmes. MRC supports 38 rural clinics in Bo and Tonkolili Districts with general and specific activities (e.g. HIV/Aids, Malaria, Ambulance referral system, Women's group, District Support). MRC coordinates the Cordaid Support Programme for Sierra Leone; this includes improved NGO-Government collaboration and retention and development of human resources for health.
